At the moment I'm using local clay and am also experimenting with some mixes in order to fire to a mid range at ^6 .I fire in 4-burner gas kiln that also doubles as a 'heater' during the cold nights of the Illawarra. It's small and sweet kiln that works a treat for both my oxidation and reduction work .Since moving to Australia, my work has taken on an experimental quality since I've been mixing and testing clays & glazes. There are still some remnants in my previous textural work but I am now working towards satin surfaces and wood firing techniques. The glazes I prefer to use are mostly matte and satins; and a few underglazes for those fun pieces I make for functional ware to sell at local markets.I'm still trying to come up with a good satin clear that works instead of shiny. I ain't much into shiny. And textures, yes, texures are my thing .So stay posted and check out my pottery gallery for those textured pieces .Soon I'll be posting new images of my wood fired work as well .If you're interested in purchasing my work or placing a commission, go to my contact page and let me know what you may want, functional or scultpural . I also have an Etsy shop .Well two really, one for my pottery, another for knitting .My handmade sweaters & knitting designs can be seen at this Etsy shop .Should I get a message to this affect just know that I'll be so delighted that you want a piece of my artwork and I'll be doing cartwheels over here in Oz!The same goes for my knitting designs. They're made from my piles of ideas that have been stacking up in my memory bank after many years of working with textiles & yarns while traveling the world .
